Voter Registration

You may complete a Michigan Voter Registration Application at a local Secretary of State Office or by contacting the Clerk’s office at (269) 721- 9709, ext. 202, or email: johnstownclk@mei.net.

You may change your address by filling out a new Michigan Voter Registration Application and submitting it to the Johnstown Township Clerk.

To obtain a replacement Voter Registration Card, please contact the Johnstown Township Clerk.

Absentee Voting (AV)

In Person:  The Township Clerk is available at the township office on the Saturday prior to the election from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for processing of Absent Voter applications and ballots.  The last day to obtain an Absent Voter Ballot in the Johnstown Township Clerk’s office is 4:00 PM the Monday prior to the election. The ballot must be voted in the office and returned.  All ballots must be returned by 8:00 PM on Election Day to be counted.

Online: Request an AV ballot by completing the Absent Voter Ballot Application.

You may deliver your ballot to the Clerk during mandated election office hours, or use the secure Ballot Drop Box at the Township Hall, 13641 S M-37 Hwy, Battle Creek, MI. All Absentee Ballots must be returned to the Clerk by 8:00 PM on Election Day.

To receive a new Absent Voter Ballot, voters must surrender to the Johnstown Township Clerk the ballot previously issued by the Sunday before Election Day.

Voters can track their ballot by accessing the Michigan Voter Information Center.

If you would like to receive an Absent Voter Ballot automatically, you must indicate this preference on the Absent Voter Ballot Application by checking the “Permanent Ballot List” box on the application form. A ballot will not be sent if a written request is not on file with the Clerk.

Early Voting

Johnstown Township electors may vote in person for all federal and statewide elections beginning the second Saturday before an election and ending the Sunday before the election.
