Banfield, Iden, and Johnstown Union Cemeteries

1. Cemetery hours shall be from daylight to dark only.
2. No alcoholic beverages allowed.
3. No flowers, shrubs, trees, or vegetation of any type shall be planted without the approval of the Township Board. Any of the foregoing items planted without such approval may be removed by a Township Elected Official or the Cemetery Sexton.
   
   The Townshp Board reserves the right to remove or trim any tree, plant or shrub located within the cemetery in the interest of maintain proper appearance and the use of the cemetery. The Cemetery Sexton or Township official shall have the right and authority to remove and dispose of any or all overgrowth, emblems, displays or containers therefore that through decay, deterioration, damage or otherwise become unsightly, a source of litter or a maintenance problem. The Township board has the authority to remove and dispose of any items located on Cemetery property that they deem as inappropriate or offensive to the general public.
4. Lots shall be used for human burial only and for no other purpose.
5. Cemetery vaults or liners are required for burials.
6. Curbs shall not be constructed around lots or graves. No grading, leveling or excavating upon burial space shall be allowed without the permission of the Cemetery Sexton or the Township Clerk.
7. Flowers and plants should be set no more than 10 (ten) inches from headstones. No glass containers. Urns to be in line with headstones. Mounds which hinder the free use of a lawn mower or other gardening apparatus are prohibited.
8. No lot shall be transferred or assigned to another person except with the consent of the Township Board. The Township will repurchase any cemetery lots or burial space from the owner for the original price paid the Township upon written request of said owner or his legal heirs or representative.
9. All monument foundations shall be installed by the Sexton.
10. Foundations more than 24 (twenty-four) inches in width (including six (6) inch margin) shall not be constructed or install on any lot.
11. Cemetery lots or burial spaces shall be sold to residents or property owners of Johnstown Township at a cost of $250.00 per space for the first two. Up to an additional two spaces can be purchased at the cost of $450.00 each. The cost to non-residents shall be $500.00 per space. All such sales shall be made on a form approved by the Township Board, which grants a right of burial only and does not convey any other title to the lot or burial space sold. Such form shall be executed by the Township Clerk.
    
    Additionally, residents of Assyria, Baltimore and Maple Grove may purchase plots at the same rate as Johnstown residents or property owners as listed above. This temporary benefit to the 3 surrounding townships could expire and is subject to change.
12. The Township Board, by resolution, may periodically alter the foregoing fees to accommodate increased costs and needed reserve funds for cemetery maintenance and acquisition.
13. The Township authorizes the Sexton to charge for an additional fee of $450.00 for a burial or cremation of a non-resident who is not a direct descendant of the certificate holder.

These rules and regulations shall be subject to change whenever the Johnstown Township Board deems it necessary.
