Residents can appeal their Tax Assessment during the Board of Review meetings in March each year.

Questions regarding your property tax assessment, taxable value, or state equalized value can be directed to the Assessor, Michele Story, at 269-721-9709, ext. 204. 


Property Tax bill mailing address change requests must be made in writing and submitted to the Assessor, Michele Story, via email at AssessorJohnstown@mei.net.

Early voting (State and Federal elections only): Qualified Electors can vote early in person beginning the second Saturday before an election and ending the Sunday before the election, from 8:30am to 4:30pm at 13641 S M-37 Hwy, Battle Creek, MI. 



Election Day: Polls are open from 7:00am-8:00pm on Election Day at 13641 S M-37 Hwy, Battle Creek, MI.

Absentee Voting: Contact the local Clerk, Sheri Babcock at 269-721-9709, ext. 202 to obtain an Absent Voter Ballot.

To register to vote, you must complete a Michigan Voter Registration Application either online, at a local Secretary of State Office, or by contacting the local Clerk, Sheri Babcock at 269-721-9709, ext. 202

To rent the Township Hall, contact Barbara Earl, Supervisor, at (269) 721-8443. You must complete a Hall Rental Agreement and pay the applicable fees outlined in the agreement.

To rent the Pavilion, you must complete a Pavilion Rental Application and pay the applicable fees outlined in the agreement.

The playground cannot be reserved. It remains a public use space, even when the Pavilion and/or Township Hall are rented.

Johnstown Township provides notary services to its residents as a service.  There is one notary available for your convenience at no charge. Please contact the Township Clerk to set an appointment.

The notary will confirm your identity prior to signing.  Please do NOT sign your documents until you are with the notary.
